Jon Balke

Jon Balke is one of the leading musicians/composers in Norway, and has been a style developer and a force to be reckoned with in jazz circles in Norway and abroad for several years.

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of MaiJazz, and in cooperation with Stavanger2008, Bergen International Festival and NightJazz in Bergen, MaiJazz has invited Balke to present his project named "Siwan".

Balke brings with him Moroccan singer Amina Alaoui and American legendary trumpeter Jon Hassel, the percussionists Abbas Bakhtiari and Helge Norbakken as well as musicians from the Norwegian ensemble Barokksolistne under the direction of Bjarte Eike.
